Dear Artist,

The world feels overwhelming at times. We’re bombarded with expectations, pressure, and constant information about what it means to live a meaningful life.

As a result, a lot of the decisions we make aren’t fully ours. They’re heavily influenced by culture, family, society—forces outside ourselves—making it too easy to lose ourselves in the overwhelm.

It’s far too easy to live a life that’s not truly yours.

This is something I’ve experienced firsthand. I vividly remember a moment in my life when, on paper, I had everything—a fancy job, an expensive car, an ideal relationship. I remember sitting in my car behind the advertising agency where I worked, frustrated and angry, yelling at the top of my lungs.

I was like, ā€œHow did I even get here? Whose life is this?!ā€

This was when I realized the life I had built wasn’t truly mine. And I was terrified I would feel this way up until the end of my life.

So much has changed since then, but over the years I’ve still said yes to projects and relationships that weren’t aligned with my highest self. Sometimes this was a result of people pleasing, other times it was a result of comparison or chasing trends. Whether I was dealing with fear, self-doubt, or whatever else, I think it ultimately it boils down to being unclear about my soul’s mission and who I really am.

This almost happened again last week when I was invited to Apple’s headquarters. I share more about this story in the MediClass below. I lost my bearings, and out of fear I nearly said yes to a whole bunch of misaligned work. I caught myself just in time, and was able to refocus on the work I’m meant to do on this planet and return to my soul’s mission.

You might be wondering, ā€œDarius, how do you know what your soul’s mission is?ā€

Great question—I love when you ask great questions.

If you’re interested in going deeper on this topic and perhaps learning more about your own soul’s mission, I’ve created a MediClass below. A MediClass is a lesson taught through a short story, a teaching, and a guided meditation. Each MediClass also includes a journal prompt to deepen and integrate the experience.

If you complete the MediClass and journal prompts, I’d love to hear about your experience. Let me know if you discover something new about your soul. :)
