There are ideas that change us forever.
Some hit us like a bolt of lightning—sudden, all at once, and impossible to ignore. Others grow in momentum, starting as a whisper, quietly shifting over time, until we realize: we will never be the same.
Five years ago, I read an article that did just that.
At first, it was just another piece of writing. But slowly, these ideas worked through me—challenging me, awakening something deep inside, and ultimately reshaping the way I see creativity, energy, and expression.
It was confronting. It was expansive. And it set off a ripple effect that unlocked something massive in me.
If I hadn't discovered the powerful idea at the heart of Azrya Bequer's 2020 article, I might never have launched Artist Morning.
This idea unlocked something massive in me. And it has done the same for many others.
I recorded a short audio experience where I share exactly how this concept transformed my creative flow—and how it can do the same for you.
⚠️ A Word of Warning: this way of thinking has a cost.
Almost like an entrance fee. It will cost you any excuse you have for not creating.
There’s comfort in staying where we are, in holding onto the familiar. And if you’re not ready to let go of that just yet, this story might not be for you.
But if you are…

Hi Darius,
Thanks for your perspective on the reminder that we can change our "operating system." I too have felt a shift within myself to tap into and fall back in love with my own creative process, part of which is writing more vulnerably and sharing it on Substack. Here are the big 3 excuses I'm ready to let go of:
"I don't have enough time."
"I need to be ready first."
"There's already others saying something similar...why bother?"
Cheers to you and all of the artists and creatives on here! We're doing the thing!
Truth begats truth Darius! This post is raw, inspiring, courageous and confronting on so many fronts. It hits those points in my heart that want to open but are fearful. Thank you, thank you, thankyou - be well and travel safely
