I’ve been reading your Substack texts since you let me know it exists.
You write your ideas very clearly and seams that it flows (I couldn’t write like this).
I like your work in Artist Morning also
One thing puzzles me while I was reading Today’s text.
Why do you need to be hearted?
What it’s your goal with this texts?
I personally like them and whatever is in your heart to write and share It makes me think about my own art work
When I paint I don’t think about if it would sell or not, or if someone is going to like it I just do it. Sometimes I have joy sometimes not, but I keep painting!
Thank you Darius for doing Artist Morning and writing here.
Hi Monica, I really appreciated this comment. I think you are honing in on something really powerful here this week. I heard a podcast with Ethan Hauck and he was saying something very similar for him. The actors job is to act. That’s it. They need to remove the concept of validation from their minds. I think that’s a really wonderful ideal to hope for and I’m still long way from that for me. There is a joy and knowing the thing I created connected with someone if I’m honest it does feel good for my creations to be seen and appreciated, this is definitely a place where I can do more work to unattached myself from the outcome and just focus on the creation
I’m finding my joy in painting. I kind of lost my way with my painting it didn’t feel right.
I took a break but felt lost.
I’ve returned with fresh thinking, I’m learning to play with my paints, I’ve changed, for now, from watercolour to acrylic. Using different tools other than just brushes, abstract more than realism.
I’m finding my inner child and learning to enjoy the process and not expect a perfect picture at the end.
Allow me to be one of the other people that "heart'' your posts! I watched that Netflix doc about a year ago and we equally impressed. Thanks for highlighting that takeaway about expectations and relentless commitment- and JOY.
“Great things take time + resilience + an unrelenting dedication to your craft.”
Ohhhhh yes!! Love this juicy thought. ♥️
Hi Caroline, thanks for the comment. I’m a sucker for formulas in that one really gets me motivated.

Just finding the joy. 😊
Thanks for the comment, Jen. The more I create and the older I get the more I realize the secret sauce always seems to be joy.
